Sexual Assault

Not even sure if it happened? Memory Loss?  What should you do?

  • Find a safe environment — anywhere away from the attacker. Ask a trusted friend to stay with you for moral support.
  • CALL 911 if you are in danger.
  • Report the attack to police or call us if you are afraid! The crisis counselor at the Sexual Assault Hotline (386) 258-7273, can help you with choices.

.

  • Preserve evidence of the attack - don't bathe or eat. If you have changed clothes put the original clothing in a paper bag to bring to us. The sooner you get to us the better but if you have waited we can still help you. Call us.
  • Memory loss??? Write down the details as you start to recall the incident or the people involved. Call us we can help you with the process.
  • Know that what happened was not your fault and that now you should do what is best for you. Not sure what that is, call us, we will give you choices.
  • Call the Sexual Assault Response Team at (386) 258-7273 to conduct a rape kit exam to preserve forensic evidence, work with us as a team to prosecute the bad guys! Let’s get them off the street.
  • If you are unsure about reporting to law enforcement, still consider having us collect evidence NOW until you are ready to report. We can help you with this!
  • Call the Sexual Assault Response Team Hotline, for free, confidential counseling, 24 hours a day. (800) 940-7273.
