Child Protection Team Some of the services offered include: Medical Exams: These are conducted by an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or a Board-Certified Pediatrician. Both are trained to detect sexual or physical abuse through this examination process. Expert Testimony: The Team is often called to criminal and dependency court to assist the State Attorney’s office in prosecution of the offender or in assuring a child is placed in a safe environment away from the abuser. Case Coordination & Referrals: The Child Protection Team assures that all parties connected to the investigation are sharing information and that referrals are given to children and their families for counseling and any other needed services. Referrals are made to the Child Protection Team through the Department of Children and Families, law enforcement or the State Attorney’s office. The Team is primarily funded through the Department of Health, Children’s Medical Services. Additional funding is received from United Way, Volusia Children’s Services Council, Flagler County Human Services, grants and donations. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with 24-hour on-call service provided. |
